RV Slang - Word of the Day

What is a Stinky Slinky?

We are referring to the TOGO RV definition:  "The sewer hose that connects the rig to a dump station."

Or, from CamperUniversity.com there is this:

"A Stinky Slinky is a 3″ flexible pipe that connects from your travel trailer to a sewer system. This pipe is used to transfer waste from the Black Tank and the Gray Tank to a sewer system and out of your trailer."

See the entire article here for some good information, tips and suggestions.

So, now that you know – what do you use?  Click on the “comments” below and let us know.  I use the Camco RhinoFLEX.

RV Slang - Word of the Day

What Is Moochdocking?

Moochdocking is RV camping on a friend or family’s property for free. This might mean parking in their driveway, on the street, or somewhere on their land.

Moochdocking does come with some risks—like ticking off grouchy neighbors or getting a citation for parking illegally—but with a little bit of advance planning, it also has some big rewards: free camping all over the country and getting to visit loved ones.

Wanted to use this one - while it is still a thing!

Wallydocking - Walmart is one of the few big chains that allow overnight parking. RVers taking advantage of this are wallydocking.

RV Parking at Walmart

The frequently asked question below is from the Walmart Corporate website regarding RV parking at Walmart stores.

Question
Can I park my RV at a Walmart store?

Answer
While we do not offer electrical service or accommodations typically necessary for RV customers, Walmart values RV travelers and considers them among our best customers. Consequently, we do permit RV parking on our store lots as we are able. Permission to park is extended by individual store managers, based on availability of parking space and local laws. Please contact management in each store to ensure accommodations before parking your RV.

An interactive map that shows the location of Walmart stores nationwide is available through the link below. The map also indicates the overnight parking status.

RV Slang - Word of the Day

The up and down pattern of motion experienced in an RV while on the road.

There’s a term for that – Porpoising.

Porpoising is front to rear bounce; the front hits a bump, then the rear hits the bump, and they both bounce independently of each other, creating an oscillating motion.

RV Slang - Word of the Day

Boondocking or Dry Camping: camping without hooking up to any electric, sewer or water facilities.

Boondocking is more than a funny word: it’s a totally rad way to hit the road! Essentially, “boondocking” is when you utilize free camping without amenities or hookups. The term is most popular in the RV and Camper Van community.

Our Word of the Day

We thought we would have some fun with this one.  We use it all the time in our Rally Itineraries, but many of us struggle with the spelling.  So here goes… the word is … hors d'oeuvres.  We decided to look it up for spelling AND definition!

The terms hors d'oeuvres and appetizers are often used interchangeably, but there is a difference: hors d'oeuvres, which is French for “out of work” but translates to “outside the meal” is generally a one-bite item that's either stationary or passed and served separate from or prior to a meal.

Hors d'oeuvres are typically served before the meal even begins, while appetizers tend to indicate the beginning of the meal. An hors d'oeuvre isn't considered to be part of the meal, but appetizers are usually chosen specifically to compliment the following courses.

ENJOY!!
