Hello Dogwood! This is the last call for our upcoming joint rally with Penn Coachmen at Spacious Skies Campground in Luray, VA.  The Rally runs Monday to Friday, 8/10 to 8/14/2026. This is third call for the upcoming Mr. B’s Bluegrass Spectacular on 30 April – 3 May 2026.  Ms. Billy Sue Goff (Concert Manager and good friend) has set aside 10 spots for us – all together. If more sign up, that’s fine, you just might not be right next door to us. But that’s OK because the campground is easily crossed in minutes from wherever you get parked.

It's time for a Dogwood Florida Dinner Gathering 😀

The rally is close and ready to enjoy. Rally fee is $20 per person collected on site..

 

Thursday evening - 5:30pm social. Bring snacks to share along with your favorite beverage.

 

Friday Breakfast provided by hosts.  Showtime is at 3pm so we need to leave at 2pm. Suggested we get there 45 minutes early. We are planning dinner out at a Buffet after the show if interested. We will get a head count on Thursday.

 

Saturday Breakfast provided by hosts. Dinner provided by hosts.

 

Sunday Continental Breakfast provided by hosts as we depart.

 

Please bring your plates, utensils and something to drink to all meals.

Dogwood Luncheon in Mechanicsville, VA

Dogwood Luncheon Rally – 23 August 2025

 

Hello Dogwood! Hey, we have moved the July Luncheon Rally to August and from Fredericksburg to Mechanicsville (Va).  Specifically, the luncheon will be held on Saturday, 23 August, at the VFW Lodge in Mechanicsville – we have been there before and always enjoyed the setting.  Plan to arrive at 12:30pm with lunch at 1:00pm.  Mark your calendars!  Cost of the meal will be $22 each to include dinner (lasagna), drinks (non-alcoholic), salad, bread, dessert and gratuity.  We will need a head-count by 7 August.  The cash bar will be open for beer. 

 

Please fill out the registration form attached and send it with payment to Jean Herbert. Also, please follow-up with an email just to be sure.  

 

Last year’s luncheon was quite a success with 44 folks showing up.  We are hoping this year will be just as good.  And we hope to see you there!

Dogwood Rally at Breaks Interstate Park

Hello Dogwood!  

We are almost ready for the July Rally at Breaks Interstate Park!  Less than 2 weeks!  

We have a couple updates for you to be aware of.  Dan Brooks will not be able to co-host, so this means Lynn Nelson and Wayne Dancause will be hosting the Rally.  

We also have a change to the itinerary:

on 7/8  - Dinner will be at the Host's Site (C73).  Hotdogs and Hamburgers will be provided.  Please bring a side dish to share.  Times will be announced at the Rally.

And one final note - we are looking to get a final count of those attending.

Update on Breaks Interstate Park Rally

 – July 7 – 11  

Based on the information we’ve gathered thus far:

The park is located on the Virginia/Kentucky border. The park encompasses 4,500 acres of greenwood lands and mountain scenery, including the "Grand Canyon of the South". History: The name "Breaks" is derived from the break in Pine Mountain created by the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River as it carved a 1,000-foot gorge on its way to the Ohio River. The Russell Fork River has carved the largest canyon east of the Mississippi. Its craggy untouched beauty reaches more than five miles long and 1,600 feet deep.

Park features: Olympic pool, a lake with paddleboats and fishing, hiking trails, picnic areas, camping areas, a visitor center, a gift shop, playground equipment, ziplining, cabins, a restaurant and amphitheater. Numerous events scheduled.

Hello Dogwood! Breaks Interstate Park is located on the Virginia/Kentucky boarder and called the Grand Canyon of the South because of the gorge it is located in. Access coming north or south is off I-81. For detailed instructions, check your GPS or see their website:  BreaksPark.com. Please visit the website and read the Things To Know section. If you have a problem driving in the mountains, this might not be for you. From the website: The Breaks Interstate Park is located in a remote area. While the Breaks is surrounded by rugged beauty, this can make getting here a challenge. All roads leading to the Breaks are mountainous, narrow, and curvy. Please plan accordingly. If this is your first trip to the Breaks, we recommend you plan on arriving before dark.
