Dogwood Lobster Fest Rally in Maine - Summary

Lobster Fest 2026

Our Lobster Fest Rally 2026 in Boothbay Maine was held Aug 26th – Sep 1st.  To all who attended the rally, thanks for a great time!  This rally was hosted by Richard & Elli Bonewitz, Berkley & Karen Alexander, and Dave & Nanette Meyer.  We had 2 campers.  Unfortunately, the Alexanders could not make the trip.  We missed you!

Nanette, Ed, Connie,Thomas, Elle, & Richard
The rally kicked off Wednesday afternoon with a social hour and lobster dinner at the campground.

On Thursday we were joined by Connie & Ed Tilman, with their grandson Thomas.  They drove down from Bar Harbor for the day, and we all enjoyed a very nice lunch at Bets Fish Fry.

Friday, we made our way to the Maine State Prison Showroom.  They have a wide variety of goods crafted by the inmates in the Maine State Prison Industries programs.  The quality and workmanship of the items in the store are incredible, with beautiful furniture and other goods

And, of course, the trip would not be complete without a stop at Renys for those “gotta have” items.  It really is a fun store to visit and yes, we found a few of those items!

We finished off the day with another happy hour and lobstah dinnah and then some good after-dinner cordials.

Saturday was another fun filled day.  We had a beautiful day for our Harbor Cruise.  It was a full 2-hour tour of the harbor, nearby islands, and light houses.  We unfortunately didn’t see any puffins or whales but did see several seals in the water.  After the cruise we had lunch at a local restaurant and warmed up with bowls of soup and lunch.  Then it was time for ice cream!!  Happy hour sufficed for dinner as we were all still stuffed!

During our time there we had plenty of free time to visit all the t-shirt and souvenir shops.  We even had time to fix a couple coach-related issues.

We ate at several of the local restaurants for clam chowder and other local food and visited the local baker for apple fritters.  And the grill came out for burger night!

Bonewitzes had a couple exciting, but sleepless nights…. And they have a new theme song for their stay…. Muskrat Love.  Yes, go ahead and ask!!

The campground facilities and sites were good, level, and easy to navigate.

We have our dates set for next year and already planning activities.  We decided to plan the Rally earlier, so mark your calendar for Aug 5-11, 2027.  The hope is that we can see some puffins before they migrate.  We are also planning a side trip to Cabbage Island and will be making those reservations early on.  We tried this year, but they were booked up the entire time we were there.

So, watch for more information … We hope to see you there next year!
