Our Word of the Day

We thought we would have some fun with this one.  We use it all the time in our Rally Itineraries, but many of us struggle with the spelling.  So here goes… the word is … hors d'oeuvres.  We decided to look it up for spelling AND definition!

The terms hors d'oeuvres and appetizers are often used interchangeably, but there is a difference: hors d'oeuvres, which is French for “out of work” but translates to “outside the meal” is generally a one-bite item that's either stationary or passed and served separate from or prior to a meal.

Hors d'oeuvres are typically served before the meal even begins, while appetizers tend to indicate the beginning of the meal. An hors d'oeuvre isn't considered to be part of the meal, but appetizers are usually chosen specifically to compliment the following courses.

ENJOY!!
