It is June and definitely summertime as I write this – temps are forecast to hit triple digits next week! But Jean and I have been camping four times now – Bluegrass concert, Motorcycle races, Devil’s Backbone and today at the RV Park at Carolina Crossroads. Look for the writeup and photos from Lynn Nelson coming soon – this is a great campground, BTW. Yes, diesel prices hurt, but this is still the best way I can think of to camp. Glamp, maybe? I don’t know, but this is an excellent way to travel, and I am glad to be part of this group – we love to travel. I see that the Maine Rally has been cancelled, but there is a rally on the Outer Banks. We have signed up for that one; the Manteo Music Festival runs a few days after that and we will relocate to the National Park at Oregon Inlet to attend the festival.
News for us – we, the Eastern Area, have new leadership! Ms. Phyllis Britz has been elected as our new Eastern Area National Area Vice President, replacing Gaye Young. Gaye, thank you for great service to FMCA and our club; Phyllis, we congratulate you on your new position and I personally look forward to meeting/working with you in the future. See you at GEAR!
Speaking of GEAR, here’s the Dogwood attendance list as of today – Buelows, Herberts, Greenwoods, Alexanders, Mimms, Dudziak, Brinkleys, Tillmans, Wolfes, and Cummings. If you are planning on attending (and I hope you are), please send me an e-mail ASAP. As Gaye expressed it, “Wild and Wonderful West Virginia has so much to offer . . . come have fun with us at “Almost Heaven West Virginia Rally,” July 13-16" . This will be a first time for Jean and I, and we are looking forward to the GEAR events and doings. I think as of today Dogwood has picked up eight new families – which is terrific – and I am hoping some of them will consider coming out to Lewisburg to join us.
