Dogwood Chapter Business Meeting Minutes
June 10, 2023
Members present: Berkley and Karen Alexander, Clint and Pat Allen, Roy and Cara Brinkley, Jim and Susan Buelow, Gary and Sue Cipa, Paul and Nancy Cummings, Ed and Jean Herbert, Rob and Donna Hill, Stephen and Judy Mahanes, David and Marla McFarlane, Pace and JoAnn Mimms, Rob and Dale Robison, Larry and Clarissa Sherrow, Steve and Sue Sohles, Dell and Terry Tenney.
1. Call to Order: Having a quorum established, President, Ed Herbert ("Ed") called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m. with a welcome and thanks to the hosts and for the good food and fellowship.
2. Secretary's Report: Jean Herbert
On a motion by Pace Mimms, seconded by Dell Tenney, minutes from the December 3, 2022 FMCA Dogwood Chapter Business meeting were unanimously approved by the Dogwood Chapter members in attendance ("the group").
3. Treasurer and Membership Report: Pat Allen
A. The current balance in Dogwood treasury is $3,524.48.
B. We have several new members added to the roster.
4. Dogwood Shirts, Name Badges, Mirror Covers, and Garden Flags:
A. Jim Buelow reminded the group that information on how to order Dogwood tee shirts, sweatshirts, name badges, mirror covers, and garden flags is available on the Dogwood blog site. Members wishing to order tee shirts or sweatshirts should print and complete the order form and send it, along with a check, to Jim. Instructions are on form.
B. There is also an order form for mirror covers and garden flags on the blog site.
5. Rally Master Report: Pace Mimms
Rally plans for the rest of 2023 are as follows:
August 23-27 - FMCA International Rally, Gillette Wyoming. Gary and Sue Cipa gave a brief overview of candidates running for office.
September 22-24 - Rally at The Refuge Campground in Wanchese, NC; Hosts Pace & JoAnn Mimms and Dave & Nanette Meyer
October 4-8 - Greater Eastern Area Rally ("GEAR"), Lewisburg, West Virginia.
November 3-4 - Urbanna Oyster Festival; Hosts Berkley and Karen Alexander
December 1-3 - Dogwood Christmas Rally at American Heritage Campground in Williamsburg VA; Hosts Lynn Nelson, Wayne Dancause, Dell & Terry Tenney, and Jean Herbert
Steve Sohles inquired about the interest in having a rally at The Great Outdoors in Florida, in February 2024.
6. There was discussion about the need for sound equipment so that everyone can hear at rallies and business meetings. Gary Cipa demonstrated and recommended a unit by Hisonic. On a motion by Jim Buelow, seconded by Dave McFarlane, the group unanimously approved the purchase of sound equipment. Dave McFarlane will take the lead in making the purchase.
7. At the GEAR Rally Dogwood members are encouraged to attend a seminar, presented by Sue Cipa, on the hierarchy of the FMCA officers and management.
8. There was discussion on some kind of partial possible compensation to Dogwood representatives who are required to attend International and GEAR rallies. Dogwood members are encouraged to send their thoughts to Ed Herbert.
9. There was discussion regarding insurance coverage for chapter events and the need for a Certificate of Insurance Coverage from FMCA.
10. On a motion by Paul Cummings, seconded by Berkley Alexander, the group unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 11:15 a.m.
