President’s Message – Mar/Apr 2022

Hello Dogwood! Spring has finally arrived, and I could not be happier for it. The blooms are out there and everything we own is covered in pollen. Wish somebody would wash my rig for me. Ha-ha; fat chance there! Anyway, the weather is now ready for RVing and we are getting ready as well. We got our rig, “Clancy”, out of storage a week or so back, and I have been busy doing the ready maintenance as the days go by – new Hot Water Heater Anode rod; run the anti-freeze out and flush the system with fresh water; check tires, oil, engine anti-freeze; clean the interior; restock the cabinets, and check all moving parts that I can get to. I’m still not crawling around as good as I used to, but the hip surgery recovery process is going well and I am walking a lot to hasten overall wellness.

Speaking of RVing - we have a lot of events scheduled over the next several months – check the website, but basically, in May, we go to Devil’s Backbone Base Camp; in June we go to Carolina Crossroads, in July, we go to Lewisburg for GEAR; in August, there is the FMCA International rally in Nebraska, etc. I know that camping spaces are still available at all of these, so if your schedule allows it, please consider signing up for one of them. The details for signup are on our blogsite.

Welcome to our newest Dogwood Members – Kyle and Joni Johnson, Dave and Marla McFarlane, Richard and Diana Good, Timothy, Sheila, and Todd Schwartz. I look forward to meeting you all in the coming rallies.

Jean and I will also make side trips to Bluegrass venues and family gatherings in Ohio and Minnesota, where I have been signed up for Cub Scout Summer camp with the grandboys. I had an absolute blast with that last year and am looking forward to it again this year.

So, for all the trips that I/you/we take this year, please, please take lots of pictures and send them to Dave, along with your stories and adventures – I love reading them. Jean and I missed the Florida get together at TGO this year – bummer!  A big “Thank you” to the Jones and Sohles for hosting, and the story was great!

That’s it for now – travel safe, stay healthy, and enjoy the trip.

Regards,

Ed Herbert

Dogwood President
