VP Communications Update – May/Jun 2023

Hello Dogwood. 

 

We are back in Virginia.  Nanette and I had a wonderful trip.  We first traveled to Rochester, NY and spent 3 weeks visiting our daughter and family.  I’ve shared pictures of us mooch docking in their driveway before.  We had a great time visiting and watching the grandkids (5 of them) playing lacrosse.

From there we traveled west to visit friends in Rapid City, SD.  We set up for 2 weeks at the Ellsworth Air Force Base Famcamp.  It was GREAT!  Our friends were super hosts as we toured the beautiful countryside.  Ed Herbert told us we had to stop and see the Corn Palace and Wall Drug – neither disappointed!  We enjoyed breakfast at Wall Drug and then spent a couple hours walking through the shops before heading out through the Badlands and on to the Minuteman Missile Silo and Museum.  We saw several landmarks (Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, Sturgis, & Ft Meade’s Cavalry Museum) and definitely plan to go back!  On the way home we stopped in Pender, NE and had our Blue Ox towbar serviced at the factory.  

United Flight 93 Memorial

We also stopped in Shanksville, PA to visit the United Flight 93 Memorial.  Very sad, but it is very well done and honors those heroes.  Many of us have spent a lot of time on airplanes -- It is so hard to imagine what those passengers and crew experienced that day.

 

On to business - We have several new members – welcome to all of you.  I know nametags, tee shirts, and mirror covers were mentioned at the Lancaster PA Rally.  I’d also like to make sure you are aware of our “Celebrating Birthdays and Anniversaries” page posted with each newsletter.  We would like to help you celebrate your annual milestones – Please send me your dates so we can include you on those special months.

 

Also - I have been busy updating the Members Photo library.  With our new members, I know I am NOT caught up, so, please check it out.  If you don’t see your photo OR want a different one posted, please send me a picture and I’ll be happy to add it to our collection.    Here’s the link…
