Dogwood Christmas Rally 2021 |
Hello Dogwood! It is early February as I write this, and winter is definitely here! For all of our members camping in the sunny south and west right now, please enjoy the sunshine! I’m still looking at melting snow in my front yard. Hmmmm...Anyway, we are indeed scattered far and wide this month - the Kuikens are in Arizona, the Greenwoods in Missouri, the Sohles/Buelows/Tilmans/Schoolars/Chadwicks in Florida and others on the road. That is great news – Dogwood is on the move!
Speaking of moving, Ms. Gaye Young, our Area Vice President is in process of moving and will not run for re-election this year. The elections are to be held at the International Rally this summer (August) in Nebraska, but nominations are opening up soon. Ed Fisher, our National Director, will be getting the details out in the next few weeks, and there are some potential nominees for Ms. Young’s position. If anyone in our club is interested in going for this slot, please see the material when Ed publishes the details. And BTW – did you know that we, the Eastern Area of FMCA, have a Senior Vice President and four (4) regional vice presidents under Ms. Young? I did not realize that until last month – never too late to learn the organization, I suppose. Anyway, you can read all about them on our blogsite under Eastern Area News (Winter Edition 2021).
We (the club) have a lot of trips coming up – get your calendars out! In March, of course, is the big international really at Tucson. Jean and I can’t make it, but I have the Dogwood Banner for anyone who is going and can represent the club. Please call me and we’ll figure a way to get it to you. In April, plans are being laid for the Rally at Old Mill Stream Campground up in PA being hosted by Jim & Mary Hunter. Jean and I are planning the rally at Devil’s Backbone Campground in May and we are eagerly awaiting information from the Nelson family regarding the June Rally at Carolina Crossroads in North Carolina. And of course, GEAR is happening in mid-July, so lots of opportunity to do some “RVing”.
Last but not least – all you folks “on the road” this month, please, please get your photos and stories into Dave Meyer so we can put them up on the blog. I love reading these stories and seeing the adventures this group is having.
For now, safe travels, stay healthy, and we'll see you down the road.
Regards,
Ed Herbert
Dogwood President
