President’s Message – Jul/Aug 2021

Jean and I (and a visitor) at the Chapter Fair - FMCA Wyoming

Good day Dogwood Club! Another beautiful day in the neighborhood (with apologies to Mr. Roberts). I trust all of you are doing well and enjoying the summer – and what a great summer it has been to date! As I write this, I know the club has just enjoyed a great weekend at North Landing, and I just saw the first set of pictures.  I  really want to hear all about it and am looking forward to the stories! Jean and I had to bow out because 1) new granddaughter was/is arriving and 2) the rig has been/was in the shop for repairs due to “injuries” incurred on trip out to Gillette last month.  Yes, I have become more proficient in fixing things than ever before, and I can truly attest to the utility and strength of Gorilla Tape. One of our windshield wipers decided to go in and out, rather than back and forth on a very rainy day in South Dakota. Hmmmm. I’ll just say that Gorilla tape worked quite well. We spent time with the grandkids in Minnesota on the way back, and I got to 1) sleep in a boy scout camp tent (how long has it been since I last did that?), and 2) get to know the grand boys a little better – they are twins, but they are different. Anyway, we are home and I’ve had new shock absorbers and a Safe-T-Plus steering damper installed on the rig – ready for the trips in September to Americamps and Lewisburg.

Attending the FMCA International Rally in Gillette was an incredible  experience! There were about 1300 rigs there, so about 2600+ folks, lots of vendors and, as normal, a fine set of lectures, classes, and presentations. On the last night, FMCA brought in the original (yes, the original) Three Dog Night Band!! Wow – these guys were older than us but still rocking – “Eli’s Comin’”, “Joy to the World”, etc. – all of their 30+ hit songs and the joint was jumping!

Jean and I are already mapping out the route for next March to the FMCA International Convention in Tucson – we plan on seeing the beautiful national parks in Utah and the Grand Canyon along the way; and we figure that early spring is the best time to go before all the tourists hit.

So please enjoy this month’s edition of the newsletter, and keep those stories coming in – pictures, too!

As always, safe travels –

Regards,

Ed Herbert

Dogwood President
