President’s Message – May/Jun 2021

Hey Dogwood folks! I am really the optimistic sort and know (for certain!) that this letter finds you safe and healthy, fully vaccinated and ready to resume rallying with your friends and the club.

Big doings coming up – by the time you read this we will have been to Natural Bridge; the next big, big rally is the FMCA Convention in Gillette, WY. We were there three years ago, and that’s where Jean and I bought the rig we are driving today (the big brown Tiffin Allegro, better known as “Clancy” – don’t ask…) So Jean and I are going out again, and I don’t plan on buying another RV. Anyway, I have signed up for a table at the Chapter Fair on July 6 at 3:45pm, and I sure could use some help if you are in the Gillette neighborhood. I plan on putting up the Dogwood banner and having tri-folds to hand out about our club. Since I have never done this before, I am definitely open to suggestions here – what other items/material could I display or handout? And before I forget, who else is going? The place is huge (and that’s an understatement!) and it’s easy to get lost in the crowd there, so I want us to be linked up before we get there. Jean and I have reserved a spot in the Family 50-Amp Full area, exact spot is TBD at this time. Please  let me know if you are planning on attending.

I did get to the motorcycle races over Memorial Day and worked as Safety Crew..

The races were exciting and the food was great – we (Safety Crew) get in for free and they feed us three meals a day – sweet deal! The races were great, the rig ran smooth and the refrigerator worked just fine.

Ahead of us, there are several Dogwood rallies planned; North Landing River, Booth Bay, Americamps and the 25th Anniversary, etc. and the Rally Master Team ( Patty & Henry) is working hard to keep it all organized – see their report below. As for the 25th Anniversary Video (yes, we are going to make one), please, please send Dave Meyer photos, videos, or travel stories about your adventures with Dogwood!

Jean and I have our own travel plans laid out, including a trip back from Gillette to Minneapolis to see the grandkids; apparently, I have been signed up for Cub Scout Camp Weekend with the two boys. Been a long time since I slept in a tent! And more motorcycle races for me to work at – they are a hoot!

Anyway, safe travels to each of you; I’ll see you down the road.

Regards,

Ed Herbert

Dogwood President
