Well, we decided to become full-time RVer's. We put our house on the market and received a contract in less than 22 days. So, we started selling everything in the house, donated clothes to Biltmore Baptist Church in Glen Allen for their clothes closet, gave the children what they wanted, and carried items to Cannon's Auction House to be sold. The buyers were scheduled to close on January 5, so the house and workshop were cleared and cleaned. Packed the last of our things in the coach and pickup truck on Dec 27and headed for the storage unit in Ashland to leave things we didn't need until Spring and proceeded to leave town. Linda said, "Did you clean out the cabinet with the alcohol?" I said "No, I thought you did." Well, back we headed to the house an hour away. Stopped about 20 miles from home, unhooked the truck and I went back to the house. Three bags later we were finally on our way to being full-time and headed for Florida at 2 am.
We arrived at Southern Palms in Eustis, FL at 3 pm, weather was nice but cool and has remained that way.
We had already taken a job as wagon masters for Yankee RV Tours; their annual pre-tour orientations were held at Southern Palms the 6-8 January and we were in a good location. On 8 January we pulled out and headed to Jetty Park for a six day tour of the Cape and surrounding areas. This was a great trip offered by Yankee but not one which we lead.
Our plans are to be back in the Williamsburg area in March to 15 July, at which time we will leave for Hill City, SD which is when our first tour of 35 days begins. This tour will make stops in Hill City, SD; Wyoming; Montana; Idaho; Washington and Oregon. Then our job takes us to Lake Powell, Page, AZ for the beginning of a 20-day tour which will cover the parks and canyons in Utah, ending in Durango, Colorado for the narrow gauge train ride and more. We then will have three days to arrive in Santa Fe, New Mexico for the beginning of a10 day Rally, ending at the International Hot Air Balloon Festival (if the borders open up) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From New Mexico we will head back towards the Keys to take part in Yankee's RV Key West Tour.
What an adventure we have had thus far.
Safe travels and happy camping to all!
Buck and Linda Buchanan
