Holy guacamole! It’s 2021, winter is upon us, and I hope this message finds all of you safe and in good health. As I look out the window, all I see is the beautiful white covering on our backyard –across the grass, on the trees, on the picnic table, etc. Jean and I love this cold, snowy weather. I know, not real conducive to RVing or camping out or rallies, but still beautiful in its own way.
Speaking of RVing, I hear that Jim and Susan Buelow finally got their RV fixed and are now in Florida – Good for you guys. Jean and I are making plans for the Natural Bridge Rally in June, and keeping our fingers crossed that the Covid bug has disappeared, or at least abated to a point where we Dogwooders can get back on the road again. We are also hoping that the vaccines are getting out to all our members and encourage everyone to get their vaccinations as soon as possible. Several folks have already signed on to join us and the area around the campground (Lexington, VA.) offers a lot of exciting things to see and do.
Good news from FMCA for us; beginning in Mid-February (by the time you read this) FMCA will be running a special on membership renewals. I heard, as I sat in on the January 11th Zoom Board Of Director’s meeting and subsequently got an e-mail from Gaye Young, that FMCA will be offering an annual renewal rate of $50 for about a month or so, vice the $75 that we would normally pay. Watch for the notice on the FMCA website when it comes out! Likewise, “Another Day in Perrydise" now has over 1200 rigs registered for the FMCA convention in Perry, Ga., for March 10th - 14th. FMCA staff is moving ahead very cautiously and making every provision possible for all members' safety with masks, social distancing, etc.
We have been busy this month working on several Dogwood items – first, notice the new Dogwood flyer on the blog site. You can download and print it double-sided and hand out to prospective members. Dave and I are fine-tuning the Standing Rules with a Cover, Table of Contents, and revised format to facilitate reading. The draft is also out on the blog site for your review. Please take time and look it over. Finally, we are tweaking the blog site itself to better show content and hold all the various articles and features.
Until we can meet again and have fun, take care and be safe.
Regards,
Ed Herbert
Dogwood President
