Throughout the weekend our hosts provided meals featuring hamburgers, French toast & eggs, and pork loin. I am not sure how much lemonade the group consumed - the Greenwoods arrived with a 5 gallon cooler of iced lemonade on Friday and the group replenished it several times throughout the weekend.
Several members (Wilt & Barbara Greenwood, Mann & Carolyn Duff and Jim Buelow) survived the Wilt Greenwood Driving Experience when Wilt drove us in his Hemi powered towed around the track at a breath taking pace. Those on board can attest to the power and speed of the of Wilt's "want to be" race car. Members watching from the infield observed for several laps that we rounded the corners on 2 wheels. Unfortunately the brakes weren't up to the task of fast laps and we finally exited the track with smoke billowing from failing brakes much to the relief those on board.
As usual at VIR, there was constant activity from early morning until late in the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Our campsite was in the infield overlooking the track and in close proximity to the paddock where work to prepare cars for racing moved at a frantic pace. Those who are fascinated with cars had fun walking through the paddock, viewing the activity in the garages, and enjoying the activities in the pits. Even those who weren't all that interested in the racing found pleasure from the enjoyment of those who did. Photos of some of the weekends' activities are included here.
